There's a right order to moss removal, and most cheap jobs skip half of it. Ours doesn't. First, we manually brush and lift established moss mats — the thick, spongy growth that chemicals alone can't remove. This is careful hand work, not scraping with metal tools that gouge shingles.
Next comes the soft wash: a low-pressure application of a biodegradable cleaning solution that kills moss, algae, and lichen down to the root. No pressure washer — on asphalt shingles, high pressure strips the protective granules and can void your manufacturer warranty.
Finally, the step most companies skip: a professional prevention treatment that keeps spores from re-establishing. In Shoreline's climate, skip this step and you'll be paying for the same job again in a year or two.
